This article provided me with a lot of reference points when looking into creating a more conceptual design with different materials:
The vinyl version of Radiohead’s 2011 album ‘The King of Limbs’ came with its very own
newspaper and was also accompanied by a blotting sheet featuring 625 tiny art works
Karen Elson’s debut album was pressed on a peach-coloured vinyl with a peach-scented cover
Factory Floor’s ‘Gold E’ vinyl and cover were made from a degradable plastic, meaning
that over time the sound of the record itself would change and the cover would disintegrate
The vinyl version of Superfood’s debut LP is made from bright
red vinyl and has a sleeve made of mirrored foil
The Shout Out Loud's record 'Blue Ice' was sold purely as a set of silicone molds, with the
intention that the fans would fill them with water and freeze them in order produce the record
Gibby Hanes released his single '‘Paul’s Not Home’
pressed on old medical x-rays, with a cover to match
The Flaming Lips released their album ‘The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends’ as a clear
vinyl with a liquid middle that had been filled with blood donated from some of the many
other artists who had collaborated on the record. The album was sold in clear vinyl sleeves.
