OUGD603 - Brief 10 - NEST Issue 13 Design

After the work had been sorted and the best pieces selected, the spreads for the magazine were put together. Moving away from the full-bleed spreads used in the previous two issues, more consideration was given to the negative space in each spread. A foiled logo was again included on the front cover of this issue, and it was decided that a bright yellow foil would provide a contrasting colour that would create a distinct brand for the issue.

The spreads were specifically designed to reflect the theme of the issue. Curved text and image placement creates movement for the eye, and guides the reader through the magazine. The new issue also includes several short written pieces that accompany the work. Previous feedback has suggested that some readers do not engage fully with written pieces, so particular attention was given to the typesetting and layout of these spreads in order to maximise accessibility to this content.

The typeface Bluu Next was selected to be used across the magazine, as its striking, angular character forms with unique flat tops provided a bold, unique identity for the new issue.
