To create a digital version of these letters the sketches were scanned and then manipulated in Photoshop and Illustrator.
The original sketches were first isolated in Photoshop by adjusting the black and white levels to define the outline:

This edited image was then image-traced in Illustrator to create a vector outline. This created a smooth, digitised version of the letterform that could be used at any scale without compromising the quality of the letterform. Once the vector had been created an additional simplified effect was applied to the stroke to recreated the sketched aesthetic that was subsequently lost through the image-tracing process.
